Locking it properly
The lock runs through the zip pulls, so it only does anything when both pulls are seated at the closed end. A half-zipped pouch with a lock hanging off it looks secure and is not.
Pouch or case?
This is the flat one — 6 × 9 in and slim, so it slides into a bag alongside a laptop. The 8 × 4 × 2.75 in case is the deep one, with Velcro dividers, and it takes a grinder standing up. Same brand, same carbon lining, different shape of problem.
How long a carbon lining lasts
Carbon linings are not permanent. They saturate gradually, and a pouch in daily use for a year does not contain what a new one does.
