What it is and isn't
It filters what you deliberately breathe into it, and nothing else. It does not treat a room — ambient smell from a session is unaffected, and for that you want a room purifier instead. The two work alongside each other rather than as alternatives.
It is a consumable
The cartridge is sealed. There is no refilling it and no servicing it: when the carbon is spent, the unit is spent. It is rated at an estimated 300 uses or more, and that is a genuine estimate rather than a guarantee, since it depends on how much you push through it each time.
Two signals, in this order. Resistance first — it becomes noticeably harder to blow through, and this is the one worth acting on. Smell second — by the time odour is passing through, it has been partly failing for a while. Buy the next one as a spare rather than as a rescue.
